Today, many adults are assisting
in the care of their aging parents, while supporting their
own children, plus facing their own retirement decisions.
Senior citizens are an increasing proportion of our society,
but economic benefits are shrinking while costs are skyrocketing.
Our panel will offer suggestions on how to make aging and
retirement in your home safe and affordable.
House neglect and injuries
at home are the primary causes of relocating to a assisted
living or nursing home. No one likes the prospect of spending
the last years of their life in a nursing home. New laws in
Massachusetts now allow those who are “otherwise eligible
persons, whose income and resources are insufficient to meet
the costs of their medical care as determined by the financial
eligibility requirements of the program, to be given the choice
of care setting that is the least restrictive and most appropriate
to meet his needs.*”
